The 2024 general election is just one month away, and happens to come in the middle of the fall term for college students. Why it matters: Young voters in the U.S. represent one of the largest groups of undecided and persuadable blocs in the upcoming coin-toss presidential race,

Marquette University sophomores Will Cardwell and Henry Morgan grew up in Illinois and Colorado, respectively, but they plan to cast their votes this November in Milwaukee, where they go to school. Ian Heffernan, a junior at the University of Minnesota, is planning to vote in Wisconsin via an absentee ballot mailed to his hometown of Madison.

At UMD, Voterpalooza is being held to invite students to register to vote, get absentee ballots, and answer questions they may have.

More than 40 million members of Generation Z will be eligible to vote this year, according to the Tufts Center for Information and Research on Civic Learning and Engagement. Organizations across Worcester are working to get out the youth vote on college campuses.
