A former close pal of Meghan Markle has claimed the Duchess of Sussex only showed up at a recent charity gala "for photographs" after narrowly avoiding a run-in with the former working royal on the red carpet.

In a red dress she had previously worn in 2021, Meghan joked with a boy at the gala about his bedtime. She also chatted with his mother about their children’s ages, noting they are close in age to her own children, Archie, who is five, and Lilibet, who is three.
